Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the AI Recipe Assistant?

The AI Recipe Assistant is available on iOS 26.0+ with Apple Intelligence enabled. In the Recipes tab, tap the floating "+" button to see two options:

  • Generate Recipe with AI: Describe what you want to cook (e.g. "a healthy pasta dish with vegetables"), and Apple Intelligence will create a complete recipe with ingredients, quantities adjusted for your measurement system, and step-by-step instructions.
  • Convert Recipe: Paste any recipe text from a website, cookbook, or message, and Apple Intelligence will automatically structure it with categorised ingredients and organised steps.

Both modes adapt to your language and local measurement system. You can review and edit the generated recipe before saving it.

How do I create a recipe manually?

Navigate to the Recipes tab and tap the "+" button (or "Add recipe" if AI is available). Fill in the recipe details including ingredients, preparation steps, cooking time, and servings. You can also add tags to organise your recipes.

How do I plan meals?

Go to the Meal Planner tab to see your calendar. Tap on any date to add a meal. You can select one or more recipes, specify the meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack), and set the number of people.

How does the shopping list work?

The shopping list is automatically generated from your planned meals. All ingredients from your meal plans are combined and organised by category. You can check off items as you shop, and the app remembers what you've bought.

Can I use Millo on my Apple Watch?

Yes! Millo includes a companion app for Apple Watch. You can view your shopping list and check off items directly from your wrist while shopping.

How do I sync my data across devices?

Millo uses iCloud to automatically sync your recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists across all your iOS devices. Make sure you're signed in to the same iCloud account on all devices and have iCloud enabled for Millo in your device settings.

How do I share recipes?

Open any recipe and tap the share button. You can export the recipe as a .millo file and share it via Messages, Mail, AirDrop, or any other sharing method. Recipients can import the recipe directly into their Millo app.

What are Pro features?

Millo offers additional Pro features for enhanced meal planning and organisation. Check the app for current Pro feature availability and early access opportunities.

Is my data private?

Absolutely. All your data is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We never collect, access, or share your personal information. Read our Privacy Policy for more details.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete individual recipes, meals, or ingredients within the app at any time. To delete all local data, simply delete the app from your device. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Millo and delete the data.

How do I use Fidelity Cards?

Go to the Cards tab to manage your loyalty cards. Tap "+" to add a new card — enter the barcode number manually or scan it directly with your camera. Each card stores the name, card number, barcode, and a custom colour for easy identification. To show a card in store, tap it — the barcode will be displayed at full brightness on screen.

How do I use Siri Shortcuts?

Millo supports two Siri Shortcuts you can activate with your voice or from the Shortcuts app:

  • Add Ingredient to Shopping List: Say something like "Add milk to Millo" and Siri will ask for the ingredient name, quantity, and unit, then add it to your shopping list automatically.
  • Open Fidelity Card: Say "Open my Esselunga card on Millo" and Siri will open that specific card directly in the app.

You can also find and customise these shortcuts in the Shortcuts app on your iPhone, or from Settings → Siri Shortcuts inside Millo.

Does Millo collect any usage data?

Only if you explicitly choose to share it. When you first launch the app, Millo will ask whether you'd like to enable anonymous analytics and crash reporting (powered by Firebase). This helps us understand how the app is used and fix bugs faster. No personal data, recipe content, or identifiable information is ever collected. You can change your preference at any time in Settings → Analytics & Crash Reports.
